It was a real privilege to document the Tap Cancer Out BJJ Open 2014 this past April, and share all of their stories. This event gathered members of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community in an effort to raise money and awareness, support local and national organizations, hospitals, doctors in their efforts to find a cure for cancer.
“They are fighting for those who are in the fight of their lives” – Jon Thomas, founder Tap Cancer Out.
We chose to feature several competitors who have each been affected by cancer in their own ways. Some with personal struggles and others who have friends and family who deal with this every day. It was important to us that this video was not simply a recap of the event, but represented in many ways a very personal struggle and the emotion behind those who participate in the sport and support this cause.
We encourage you to learn more about the Tap Cancer Out Foundation at tapcancerout.org.

We’re super excited and honored to have been the recipients of a 2015 Gold Davey Award for this short film, in the Online Video / Non-Profit category. Another fantastic opportunity to spread the word on this awesome cause – and, we may just have to celebrate.
